💡Notes

The EMR, Laboratory Module, and Invoices are seamlessly interconnected, so that every prescribed test flows directly into the lab operations, results are automatically added to the patient’s medical record, and charges are instantly added to patients’ invoices.

Lab tests in LinkHMS are handled collaboratively by lab workers, doctors, nurses, receptionists, and clinic admins.

Prescribing the Analysis

Doctors and nurses can prescribe lab tests directly during patient visits or hospital admissions. Receptionists and clinic administrators can also place lab test requests in the EMR based on a doctor’s order or a patient’s need. As you start typing a test name in the EMR, the system automatically suggests matches from pre-built or custom templates. If a specific template is not available, you can still enter free text to request the lab worker to carry out an unspecified test.

Receiving the Test Order

💡Notes

The Laboratory Module is primarily used by lab staff to perform and manage tests.

When a lab analysis is prescribed from the EMR or Invoices (extended functionality for receptionists and clinic admins), it instantly appears in the laboratory module for the lab worker to process. You get each requested lab test as a separate task under the Orders tab. LinkHMS covers functionality to track all pending tests, view details such as the patient, test type, and priority, and update the status as it progresses.

Processing the Lab Test

Lab workers can then manage the request, carry out the required analysis, enter the results, and flag any values that fall outside the normal range. The included test templates help standardize procedures and ensure consistent reference values for accurate results. You can also attach supporting files, such as images or documents, to collect test-related information under the same record.

💡Notes

Laboratory workers use built-in templates and create custom ones to perform specific tests. Templates can be activated, deactivated, or removed anytime, keeping only relevant tests in use within your clinic.

Reviewing Results

💡Notes

In the EMR, each patient’s profile includes sections such as Summary, History, and Analyses, where all lab test records are collected.

Once a lab worker updates a lab test with the results, the information becomes immediately visible in the patient’s EMR to doctors, nurses, receptionists, and administrators. You can view test results, status, comments, and any attachments in real-time, with all changes fully synchronized. Additionally, you can print them for your clinic records or to share with patients.

Creating the Invoices for Lab Tests

💡Notes

LinkHMS supports connected lab test service invoicing to bill all services across a single invoicing process.

Every requested lab test is automatically added to the patient’s pending service payments. Receptionists and clinic administrators can include these test charges in the patients’ invoices to properly bill all provided services within your clinic.
